How to Create a Pop-up in your Squarespace Website
Hey Friends,
It’s Dani here from Wandersouls Creative coming with another tutorial.
In this video, I’m showing you how to create a pop-up in your Squarespace website.
Pop-ups are perfect to guide your visitors to take a certain action whether that is to tell them about a sell or offer that is going on, or to collect email addresses with a freebie.
So, let’s get started.
How To Create a Pop-up in your Squarespace Website
In the main menu, click on “Marketing”, and select “Promotional Pop-up”. Then, enable the “Display Pop-Up” button.
Next, click on change layout.
Here, you can select the layout of your preference. You can choose either a pop-up that will take the whole page, only the footer, or regular size. I always recommend choosing one that allows you to place a picture in it because it converts so much better.
Once you choose the pop-up layout of your choice, hit “Save”, and go back to the pop-up menu to click on “Action”.
Here, think about your main goal. Is it to sign up for a newsletter? Is it to take them to another page?
If your main goal for the pop-up is to make them sign up for the newsletter, click on that button and fill the boxes. Then, go to the storage section and connect your email campaign platform. If you’re offering a freebie in exchange for their email, you can go ahead and click on “post-submit” and add the link of the freebie, unless you have already created an email campaign that will automatically send them an email with the freebie.
If you want to redirect them to another page, click the second option that says “click a button”, type the call to action for the button, and add the link.
Click “Save” and go back to the main pop-up menu to click on “content”.
This is where you will change the body and the headline of your pop-up.
Write a headline that stands out and makes your visitor click on it because that is going to be the first thing that they’re going to read.
Add the body text.
Click “Save” and go back to the menu to select the “display & timing” option.
This is where you’ll determine when the pop-up is going to appear, and on what pages of your website.
On the “show the pop-up on” option, select whether you would like it to appear on every page or certain ones. If you choose to appear in certain ones, go ahead and select the pages that you would want it to appear.
Then, go to the timing option to choose “on a timer and scroll” so that it is still there when the visitor scrolls down the page. Next, choose the timing. I recommend choosing after 5 seconds and go for the 25% scroll down.
Next, choose the frequency of your pop-up. Would you want it to pop-up every single time the person visits your page? Or every week? Or even in 30 days? I always choose “the next day” so that it will always appear.
Make sure to check the boxes of disappearing after the person signs up, and to show the pop-up in the mobile version too.
Click “Save” and go back to put your image on it.
Click on Image, and upload your images. You can select more than one to make a type of slideshow.
Then, click “Save” and move to the final option of the pop-up menu… the Style Settings.
Get creative !! This is where you can change the fonts, the colors, the buttons, and everything in the pop-up. Make sure that whatever that you do stays branded with your website.
And there you have it!!!!
That’s it!
