How to Create a Coming Soon Page in Squarespace (2021)

Welcome back to another Squarespace tutorial!
In today’s video, I’ll be showing you how to create a coming soon page or an under-construction page.
This is perfect for you if you're in the process of building your website and you don’t want your audience to look at your behind the scenes process or your unfinished website because it can get a little bit messy when you’re building. Plus, you can let them know there’s a website coming and actually set the date for it.

How To Create a Coming Soon Page in Squarespace
Go to “Design” and select the option of “Lock Screen”. It will appear the default page of a lock screen which is going to look pretty boring. But, you can always customize it by changing the banner, fonts, and colors. So, let’s go ahead and do that.
Click on “Change Layout” and click and click the one that you like the most. This will start to change your coming soon page look (I went with the last one).
Click “Save”.
Now, you can go back to the lock screen menu to start customizing it.
Change the branding and text first. If you have a branded logo, I always recommend you to upload it instead of a text.
Change the Headline with the text of your choice. I went with “Coming Soon”
Then, change the body text. This is a way that you can use to connect with your audience while you’re in the process of building your website. You can add your email address, your Instagram Handle, or the platform of your choice. Make sure to add a link by highlighting it and clicking on the link icon to make it easier for them to contact you.
You can always display the lock icon, but I prefer not to display it. It’s up to you.
Now, click SAVE and go back to the lock screen setting to keep customizing your coming soon page.
Click on “Media” to start changing the Banner. You can always choose between uploading a background image for your coming soon page or uploading your youtube or Vimeo URL to add more movement to your page. For this tutorial, I went with adding an image.
With images, you can select just one image or multiple images to add movement and rotation to your page.
Click SAVE, and go back to the lock screen settings.
Next, we are going to style everything. So, go ahead and click on “Style”.
Be creative and use your branding. Change the fonts to the ones that you use to keep your page as cohesive as possible. Change colors. Remove or Add Overlays. Get crazy.
You can also customize the password option. This is for people that you want to give access to in the mean-time.
If you want to make the logo bigger, you can always change it in the Branding Option inside the “styles” menu from the lock screen settings.
Now that you have it all customized, go to the main menu and click on “Setting”.
From there, go to “Site Availability”, and choose “password protected” to add your password for the site.
And there you have it!!!!
