How to create and style a drop down menu in Squarespace (2020)

In this video I’m going to show you how to create and style a drop down menu for your Squarespace website.
You can use this for any page or section of your website but it’s incredibly good if you have a blog and you want to showcase your blog categories on your website just like this:

How to create and style a drop down menu in Squarespace (2020)
Go to “Pages”.
Click on the plus (+) sign on the primary navigation bar.
Select “Folder”.
In my example website, I’m going to create a blog and I’m going to put all the categories I have on my blog in the drop down menu. For this:
Change the name of the folder to “Blog”.
Now, we’re going to create a new page for every single category that you want. So, under the folder, click on “Add a Page” for each of the categories that you want and change the name to it.
We already have our categories under the drop down menu. But, now we’re going to customize every single one of them. Click on the first category that you have just created and then click on “Edit”.
Here, you will go to the insert point and select a “Summary Grid”.
On the menu that will appear, select “blog”.
Go to Layout and adjust the settings to 1:1 square.
Go to Display and write the category that belongs to this page in the “Category Filter”.
Click “Apply”, and then “Save”.
Now, do the same for the rest of the folder pages.
Quick Note: If you want to add the full blog on the drop down menu with the different categories, you can do it by dragging the blog page to the folder.
I strongly recommend to fully customize every single page by adding a banner, fonts, images, texts. It’s totally up to you.
Be creative.
There’s no limit on this.
If you’re wondering how I created my categories for my blog, simply:
Go to your blog page
Select a blog post.
Click “Edit”
At the bottom it will show categories and a plus sign. Click on the plus sign and type in the categories that you would want.
Click “Enter”.
Then, click “Save”.
Now, if you want to customize your drop down menu:
Go to Design.
Select “Site Styles”.
Click on your “Primary Navigation Bar” and the styling menu will appear.
Then, you can fully customize it by changing the folder color and fonts.
Finally, click “Save”.
And there you have it!!!! That’s it!
