How to add and customize an announcement bar in Squarespace in 2020
In today’s video you’ll be learning how to create and customize an announcement bar which is the top bar at your website where you can add any call to action, freebie or announcement that you have. This is the key element to a highly converted website because it is the first thing that your visitors are going to see when they go to every page of your website.
With that being said, Let’s get started.
how to add and customize an announcement bar in Squarespace in 2020
First, you’re going to go to the “Marketing” tab and click on the “Announcement Bar”. You might see that the feature is disabled. So, go ahead and click on enable. On the square provided below, you’re going to type the text that you want your visitors to see.
Next, you can add a link below by clicking the gear icon. If you’re adding a page from your website, I recommend that you use the “Page” tab and type the page from your website that you want to have linked. You can enable the “Open in a New Window” feature, but it’s not necessary since your visitors will already be on your page. If the link is from another website, go to the “Website” tab and type in the link that you want to add. Here, I definitely recommend enabling the “Open in a New Window” so your visitor can go to the link while staying on your website.
Once you add the link and the text, click “Save”, and then “Save” again.
Now, if you want to customize the color of your announcement bar:
Go back to home, and click on the “Designs” tab, and then on “Sites Styles”.
Next, click on your announcement bar so that the settings for it can pop up in your site styles.
Here, play around with the background colors or copy and paste your hex code to be aligned with your branding. You can also change your text colors and fonts.
